Summary
The Manage and Lead program at UMass Chan, designed specifically for UMass Chan Leaders and Managers, will:
-Provide you with the necessary tools to build a successful leadership foundation and create a culture where people collaborate and effectively work together
-Assist you in gaining enhanced skills in attracting and hiring new staff, developing and coaching staff, managing performance and behavior and reducing legal and employee relations problems
-Provide the training and tools to ensure UMass Chan managers develop into great leaders, such as:

TRAINING MODULES
HIRE, MANAGE, COMPLY, DEVELOP
The training program consists of the following four (4) training modules that are taught by UMass Chan HR subject matter experts. The modules are to be taken sequentially as follows:
- HIRE - Interviewing & Hiring: Techniques in Competency-based Behavioral Interviewing, How to Onboard and Engage Your New Hire, and Transition from Traditional to Competency Based Job Descriptions.
- MANAGE - Goal Setting: How to use the UMass Chan Core Competencies to set Annual Performance Review Development Goals, Managing the Team to Goals, Managing Employee Performance and the Corrective Action Process, UMass Chan Competency Model: Application of the Core Competencies and the Performance Appraisal Form, and Leading Change: How people adapt to change, why they resist it, and how to respond to resistance.
- COMPLY - Immigrant Onboarding, Leave Management, FMLA & ADA, and Legal and Compliance issues.
- DEVELOP - Coaching, Developing, Motivating, Communicating and Leading Employees.
