Special Events

International Festival

International FestivalEach spring, the Diversity and Inclusion Office hosts a wonderful event called the International Festival, a celebration for students and staff highlighting diverse music, dance, food, traditional dress, and other expressions of the 64 countries that make up the UMass Chan community – and make it such a vibrant and innovative organization.

Diversity Campus Read

Blind SpotThe Diversity Campus Read is designed to provide a campus-wide learning opportunity through literature, to encourage a common reading experience and to develop a sense of community at UMass Chan and UMMHC. All members of the UMass Chan and UMMHC communities are encouraged to read the Diversity Campus Read selection. Also, throughout the year, other events such as lectures and discussion groups will provide an opportunity for individuals and the community to gather and talk about the issues presented in the book.

Distinguished Visitor Speakers

Based on expanding reputation for being a health care center of excellence, UMass Chan is able to attract distinguished visitors from across disciplines and the globe.  These authors, researchers, educators, and community and world leaders bring a steady flow of challenging and important ideas into UMass Chan.  Be sure to check InsideUMassMed and UMass Chan News for these special events – and attend as many as you can.

Artist In Residence

Artist in ResidenceAnother enriching feature of the UMass Chan culture, is the opportunity to take advantage of exhibitions in the Lamar Soutter Library, for example, the Artist in Residence series.

You may wish to view these various exhibitions online, or in person at the library.
