Dr. Puri Receives Heart of Gold Award

Dr. Ajit Puri - Heart of Gold Award 2022Ajit Puri, MD, DM, Chief, Division of Neurointerventional Radiology and Director of the Integrated Cerebrovascular Program, was recently awarded the Heart of Gold Award by the Central Massachusetts chapter of the American Heart Association. The Heart of Gold Award is presented each year to members of the Central Massachusetts community who have enhanced the quality of life in the region and who have played a significant role in advancing the mission of the American Heart Association. Dr. Puri has extensively published in the field of treatment in brain aneurysms and stroke interventions. He is extremely passionate about minimally invasive treatment options for stroke and brain aneurysms. He also plays a vital role in the international society of Neurointerventional surgery, where he has been instrumental in co-authoring guidelines for stroke management. Dr. Puri has served on the board of directors for SNIS and is serving in the SNIS educational committee. He has led many social media campaigns on signs and symptoms of stroke and getting timely care in the era of COVID. He is the Site and National Principal Investigator of many pivotal stroke and brain aneurysm trials, including paradigm-shifting trials like SWIFT PRIME and PREMIER, among numerous others. Under the leadership of Dr. Puri, the UMass Memorial Neurointerventional Division is the one of the busiest centers for stroke thrombectomy on the east coast.
