Abstracts from Spring Meetings

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic spring meetings were cancelled throughout the world. UMass Radiology Faculty, Residents and Students had abstracts accepted to meetings but were unable to attend. Below is a list of meetings that have been cancelled or postponed and abstracts accepted from members of the department of Radiology.

  • Ultrasound guided interventions of the painful shoulder: What residents need to know. David Radcliffe, Venkatesh Murugan, Yara Younan, George Watts

American Association for Anatomy Meeting

  • Alexandra Wink, PhD -  I was chairing a symposium session called “What to Know When You’re Learning as You Go: Post-Graduate Skill Building in Anatomy.” The session was targeted to people with nontraditional backgrounds or without prior anatomy training who find themselves being called upon to teach the anatomical sciences. This session will be reprogrammed as a professional development webinar later in the summer.
  • Amanda Collins, MPH - A Little Help from my Friends: Mentoring and Networking for Career Development. Amanda Collins, MPH has formal training in Family Social Science and Mortuary Science.  She was well prepared for her career as a funeral director and embalmer. Amanda applied for a position in higher education as an anatomical embalmer and started her journey into medical education in 2011.  This speaker will discuss how she has sought guidance from her peers and mentors for development opportunities and how simply asking to be involved in educational opportunities has paved her way to a faculty appointment.
  • Yasmin Carter, PhD -  Podium presenter for the title: Incorporating LGBTQ+ Inclusivity and Gender-Neutral Considerations into Medical School Anatomical Education: First Steps. Also my capstone student Hillary Mullan and I, had a poster presentation called: Creating a 3D Printed Model of the Female Perineum to Supplement Traditional Cadaveric Education. Hillary also received a travel award for this.
  • Lela Giannaris, PhD – Symposium Chair, Professional Development Committee presentation titled:  So you want to get published? Writing the manuscript, Navigating the Peer Review Process & Playing Nice with Reviewers
