Dr. Smelson also directs the Bedford Node of the National Center for Homelessness Among Veterans. Dr. Smelson has extensive experience with human research in drug addiction and co-occurring disorders with active research involving cue-exposure, medication development and the genetics of drug addiction. He also has a number of studies in behavioral therapy with individuals whom are homeless and actively involved in the criminal justice system. Dr. Smelson has received funding from VA HSR&D, VA-QUERI, SAMHSA, NIH-NCCAM and NIH-NIDA. In addition to his research, Dr. Smelson also teaches residents and postdoctoral fellows in addictions.
