Gregory DiGirolamo, PhD
|Associate Professor of Psychiatry|
Gregg DiGirolamo, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Director of the Cognitive Neuroscience Lab (CNL) at the College of the Holy Cross, and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UMass Medical School, Department of Psychiatry.
Dr. DiGirolamo’s research interest is investigating the cognitive and neural mechanisms of how people control their behavior. We are interested in understanding how control over behavior breaks down during the progression to addiction, how to augment control during treatment, and how breakdowns in control lead to relapse. We are also interested in understanding the underlying neural areas involved in control, and how different medications improve control and increase activity in the neural areas involved in control in patients with addiction.
