Maternal Mental Health Research Collaborative project is housed at SPARC!
Date Posted: Wednesday, September 27, 2017The Maternal Mental Health Research Collaborative (MMHRC) is a PCORI Tier II grant that was recently awarded to the UMass Chan Medical School. The 1-year project will be housed in SPARC and has a budget of $24,994. The MMHRC is a patient-led initiative driven by a collective vision of developing a peer led, patient-centered think-tank and research hub where moms, healthcare providers, researchers and other stakeholders co-create research questions guided by a shared desire to quickly improve health by focusing on patient identified priorities. Through their partnership with Clara Health, MMHRC will serve as a conduit to connect mothers with studies that are actively recruiting participants.
Currently, MMHRC research is exploring peer support as a viable treatment modality for maternal mental illness and the use of technology to improve access to this type of service. Other research priorities will be determined by MMHRC’s community of moms, healthcare providers and other stakeholders as they grow.
