Elective Description:
This elective will provide the 4th year medical student with clinical experience in the field of addiction psychiatry through exposure to various clinical settings.  The student rotate through treatment programs at the Addiction and Comorbidity Treatment Service and Addiction Consultation Service in the University Campus. The student may also rotate at Adcare Hospital, Motivational Youth Recovery (MYR) and Homeless Program at Community Healthlink, Inc.  The student will learn a comprehensive approach to the treatment of addiction encompassing evaluation and formulation of substance use disorders, psychopharmacology of addiction, motivational enhancement, and psychosocial interventions.  The student will be supervised daily by a clinical preceptor at the various sites and will see approximately 5-10 patients per day.
