Prerequisites:

Medical students who have successfully completed their first two years of basic medical science study.  

Elective Description:

Dermatopathology is a subspecialty of pathology focused on providing diagnoses for skin diseases including inflammatory as well as neoplastic abnormalities. Elective rotation for medical students is a 1-2 weeks block offering the students an opportunity to observe and participate in clinical activities in dermatopathology. Students spend the morning previewing slides of daily clinical cases with fellow and residents and rendering preliminary diagnoses before discussing with attending pathologists the work up plan, final diagnosis and differential diagnosis. Rotator also participate the daily dermpath division consensus conference at noon. There are ample dermpath teaching slides and text books available for trainees to review during afternoons. At the end of rotation, student will gain basic knowledge as well as career realm of dermatopathology.
