Elective goal: to expose senior medical students to disorders of the female pelvic floor including urinary incontinence, uterovaginal prolapse and defecatory dysfunction Description: This rotation is primarily an outpatient experience with some exposure to the operating room and postoperative care. The bulk of the student’s time will be spent in clinic seeing patients alongside the Urogyn faculty, fellows and residents. Students will see a wide variety of patients with complex pelvic floor disorders. The majority of patients will have prolapse and/or urinary incontinence but we also regularly see genital fistulas, pelvic pain, fecal incontinence as well as complications from prior surgical repairs. Our service routinely performs office procedures such as urodynamic studies and office cystoscopy and students will be exposed to these techniques as they occur during the rotation.
