Elective Description: To teach medical students the correct approach to simple and complex acid-base and electrolyte problems, acute kidney injury, and hypertension. Students will also learn practical aspects of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis as well as continuous renal replacement therapies (e.g. CVVH) and will have in-depth ongoing sessions on glomerulonephritis. Renal transplantation and kidney stone disease will also be covered. Students attend interhospital renal rounds and have daily didactic sessions to review common, as well as, unusual and complex problems in nephrology and hypertension. | |
