Elective Description: Interventional Pain Medicine is a fast growing specialty that focus on the interruption of painful stimuli in order to allow faster recovery and prevent chronic debilitating painful syndromes. The rotation consists of 2 days of procedures, which medical students serve mostly as observers. Two (2) days of clinics in which the medical student has a hands on experience. In addition, 1 day of operating room in which the medical student will share time with the resident and participate in the case.

It also involves inpatient consults in which the medical student participates hands on.  At the end of the rotation the medical student will have a complete experience of an outpatient chronic pain clinic setting. It will also solidify the inpatient experience in the management of pain.
