Yukihide Tomari, PhD

Yukihide Tomari is Professor in the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences, at The University of Tokyo. After receiving his PhD from the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, at The University of Tokyo in 2003, he joined the Zamore laboratory at University of Massachusetts Medical School as a postdoc, where he started working on small RNAs. In 2006, he was appointed Assistant Professor, PI at his current institution, advanced to Associate Professor in 2009, and promoted to Professor in 2013.

His laboratory is focused on dissecting the molecular mechanism and function of
non-coding RNAs by combining biochemistry, biophysics, cellular, and developmental biology. For his scientific contributions, he has been awarded the Japan Academy Medal, JSPS Prize, etc.
