Welcome to the Interview Day Information Page

Interviews begin at 8:00 AM in the Psychiatry Department Classroom (Room S4-325) on the 4th floor the medical school. We suggest you arrive at UMass by at least 7:30 AM to park. Please park in our Visitor Parking Garage and we will validate your parking before you leave. Enter the building at the Main Hospital Entrance (Remillard Family Pavillion) and use these directions. Continental breakfast will be served during the first session in the morning. Wednesday’s schedule includes lunch and a dinner out with residents. If your spouse or significant other will be with you during your visit, they are invited to join you for dinner. Please tell us if you have any dietary restrictions.

If you require hotel accommodations, we recommend the Beechwood Hotel. Although it is a bit more expensive (and better appointed) than many smaller motels in town, it is located right on the hospital grounds and you will be able to walk to your appointments in event of inclement weather. The Psychiatry Department has arranged for a $50 credit to your bill at the Beechwood Inn so that it will cost no more than the bargain hotels in town. When you make your reservations please tell them that you are with the Psychiatry Residency Program and you will receive this credit when you register. Also, please inform Vickie White of any hotel reservations that you do make (including the dates you will be staying) as some require a letter and some just a phone call in order to get the UMass discounted rate.

A good deal of effort has been put into arranging your visit. If you need to cancel for any reason, please call the Training Office as early as possible (508-856-4087). Interviews are held regardless of weather. If you encounter last minute difficulties, please call Dr. Benjamin’s cell at (508-667-4105) until 11 PM or after 6 AM. You may also page Dr. Benjamin by calling (508-727-6162) and entering your number after the beeps followed by the # sign.
