Radiology Faculty and Student Present at NEGEA

The 2016 AAMC Annual Retreat of the Northeast Group on Educational Affairs (NEGEA) took place at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University on April 9th and 10th. At the conference 14 UMass Chan posters (from a total of 108) and/or 4 short communications were presented including ones from the Radiology Department. One of the short communications was by Lela Giannaris PhD, entitled Development of an Interactive Session to Teach Medical Students the Clinical Anatomy of Stroke Utilizing 3D Models Derived from Patient Imaging Data. Another short communication was presented by Susan Gagliardi PhD titled NeuroWorkbooks: A Different Way to Support
Interactive Classroom Learning.

One of the two posters from the UMass Chan Radiology Department was presented by Carolynn DeBenedectis MD about the Flexible Clinical Elective in Breast Imaging. The second poster was presented by Samantha Harrington T.H. Chan School of Medicine 2016 along with Joe Makris PhD, their poster was titled Global Health and Imaging: Creating Opportunities for Medical Students.

The NEGEA is one of four regional groups of the AAMC's Group on Educational Affairs (GEA). "Our purpose is to promote excellence in the education of medical students, residents, and physicians through the professional development of medical educators. Our regional meetings provide a forum for exchanging ideas, learning new strategies, and developing plans that may facilitate your own work and implementation of the NEGEA mission."
