UMass Chan CMS Blog

The Taxonomy Search Block allows you to create a list of items that have been tagged with certain taxonomy categories. This allows us to display a list faculty, labs, blogs and UMass Chan News news articles as a sidebar on a page or as a larger list. 

STEP: Create a new block

• open the CMS editor: https://qaedit-www.umassmed.edu/episerver/cms
  
  
• create new page under any microsite
  • hover over a page in the content tree - menu icon displays
    
    
    
  • click on menu icon to expand menu - click on new page
    
    
    
  • give it a name and select a generic page type
    
    
    
    
    
  • fill in the headline and click the create button
• Once the page is created, go to properties view and In a dropblock area, create a new block
  
  
  
  
• Name it whatever you wish and scroll down to find the Taxonomy Listing Block with Filtering
  
  
  
• block properties display and create button appears, click the create button

EXPECTATION

• page should display with publish button and block appears in content area (go ahead and publish the page)
  

STEP: Set Filtering

• Make sure you are in properties view
• edit the block
  • hover over the block and the menu icon appears 
  • click on the menu icon to expand the menu
  • click edit
    
• On the Listing tab
  • Select Labs from the "Which Type of List..." dropdown (screen shot below)
  • Select Labs from the Taxonomy tree (screen shot below)
  • leave all other properties set at defaults for now
  • publish

• click on page editing icon

EXPECTATION

• results displaying in a grid card layout similar to below
• each item has an image on top with the lab name in a blue bar under the image
