Sara Jacques, MA
Program Administrator, Internal Medicine Residency

I have worked at UMass Chan Medical School for almost 10 years, starting out as the Medicine UME Coordinator, working with 3rd and 4th year medical students. My role as the Program Administrator for the Medicine Residency began three years ago, and also includes managing all of the UME & GME Internal Medicine education programs. I enjoy being part of the journey that learners experience all the way through medical school, residency and fellowship.
Prior to my time at UMass, I worked in Higher Education for 10 years, both in Residence Life and Academic Advising. I received my BA in Psychology from the University of San Diego and have my Masters degree in Social Psychology. I've worked at colleges & universities across the country, and as most of my family lives on the west coast - I try to visit the Pacific with my two daughters as often as I can!
I joined UMass in the Internal Medicine Residency program in September 2011 as an Administrative Assistant and am currently the Project Coordinator. I consider myself fortunate to work with such a supportive team as we strive to provide the best training possible for our diverse group of physicians. My favorite tasks at work include elective scheduling, generating the block schedule, and the recruitment/orientation processes.
Before UMass, I used my office management degree in the computer telephony industry as well as at a small liberal arts college in the offices of the Vice President for Student Services and Vice President for Academic Administration. I was born in central Massachusetts and still live in my home town. I am a fan of all the New England teams and especially love to watch the Patriots. Away from work I also enjoy hiking, projects around the house, reading, cooking and baking, and spending time with my family.

I started working at UMass Chan Medical School in 2010. I was the Administrative Education Program Coordinator in the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education, working with 1st and 2nd year students. I loved working with the students and to see them grow in their careers. Most recently I worked at the UMass Center for Mindfulness guiding participants through the pathway of becoming a Certified MBSR Teacher. I was brought on to as the Project Coordinator for the Medical Residency team. My job will be specifically working with the new Primary Care Residency. I will be working closely with the residents to schedule their ambulatory rotations as well.
I grew up in the Boston area and prior to my time at UMass, I had the greatest job as a stay at home mom to my son, Matthew.
