Faculty Development

Overview

The mission of the Faculty Development Fellowship is to continually develop the community-based primary care education throughout the region. The Fellowship is designed to allow Fellows to develop their identities as teachers within the Medical School by enhancing their skills as educators and educational scholars, as well as building on their strengths as leaders in community faculty development.

The Faculty Development Fellowship for Leaders in Primary Care is a one-year educational experience. The goals of the fellowship are to enhance Fellows' skills as educational scholars and educators, as well as to build on their strengths as leaders in community faculty development. The fellowship includes a once-monthly half-day seminar series and optional opportunities for teaching including participation in the Teaching of Tomorrow series; completion of an educational project under the mentorship of a senior faculty member is also an option for interested participants. This program is designed to prepare fellows to disseminate faculty development to community preceptors and to assist primary care departments in developing the leadership potential of their mid-level faculty who are primarily based in teaching health centers.
