Preventive Medicine
Summary
The University of Massachusetts Preventive Medicine Training Program integrates academic, practicum, research and clinical experiences to provide trainees with the requisite knowledge, skills and experience to become leaders in the field of preventive medicine and public health. Recognizing the challenge of preparing qualified physicians to practice in the broad and changing field of public health and preventive medicine, the Program strives to individualize the training program while providing a rigorous core of required educational and practical experiences. The most important outcome measure is successful career placement. The UMass training program, with its emphasis on tailoring the curriculum to the baseline competencies and future goals of each trainee, succeeds in placing graduating trainees in leadership positions in county, state and federal public health agencies, community health centers, occupational medicine programs and academic medical centers.
