Research Design Studios
What is the purpose of UMass Chan Medical School Research Design Studios? Research Design Studios provide UMass Chan faculty Medical School and trainees guidance on clinical or health services research studies.
Who is the target audience? The most common participants will be Baystate, Lahey, and UMass Chan Worcester Medical School graduate and medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty upon starting a new research project. Research Design Studios Visitors should engage early looking to improve the rigor and impact of their projects.
Which institutions are involved? The Research Design Studios will span UMass Chan Medical School, Baystate, and Lahey.
How do the Research Design Studios work? Research Design Studios Visitors will meet virtually with senior clinical and health services research faculty to help plan, design, and connect their clinically-focused research to resources across UMass Chan. Additionally, studios faculty will help in networking and identifying other individuals who may serve as collaborators or consultants.
When do the Research Design Studios take place? While the schedule is currently being determined, we expect studios to occur weekly. To schedule, use the sign-up calendar.
Will the Research Design Studios help with my IRB application, analyses, grant applications, or data extracts? No. For those wanting help with statistical analysis, please contact the Umass Chan Quantitative Methods Core (Quantitative Methods Core (QMC)), Baystate QMC (https://www.baystatehealth.org/research-at-baystate-health/services-and-facilities/quantitative-methods), or Lahey Comparative Effectiveness Research Institute (CERI). Grant writing assistance is available through GRIP, K club, and R club (Education & Training - CCTS | UMass Chan Medical School - Worcester). Data extracts and informatics support is available through the Research Informatics Core.( Education & Training - CCTS | UMass Chan Medical School - Worcester) IRB help is through the IRB at each respective institution.
