MedEd Journal Club

The OUME MedEd Journal Club is all about an online, informal discussion of medical education topics that are presented in journal articles. Prior to the zoom meeting a list of 3 articles will be posted here to read. A summary will be given for each article during the recorded online meeting to trigger discussion. Everyone can participate even if you do not have time to read all the articles.

The MedEd Journal Club meets every 3 months in the last week unless otherwise specified for one hour. We encourage UMass Chan educators to recommend articles and lead the disussions. Please contact Gail March Cohen, PhD  to arrange to be a guest presenter.

Thursday, July 29, 2021: 12-1PM.Discussion topic is Restore-Evolve-Transform as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. 3 articles to read and Summary presentation: Zoom session recording. 

Tuesday, Oct 26, 2021: 12-1PM. Discussion topic is a look at AAMC's MedEdPORTAL, peer-reviewed journal of learning materials, to recognize changing learning materials during a pandemic.  MedEdPORTAL: COVID-Triggered Learning Materials. 3 publications to read in the Summary presentation and Zoom session recording.

Thursday, Jan 27, 2021: 12-1PM: Discussion topic is Innovations in Medical Trainees Assessments. Summary PDF presentation and Zoom session recording.

Wednesday, April 27, 2022: 12-1PM:  Discussion will look at 3 articles on using portfolios in medical education. Zoom link will be sent out in April with the three articles, a summary PDF, and Zoom invitation.
