Eligibility

All participants must be at least eighteen years old, continuously matriculating at a 2- or 4-year college or University and must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident to apply. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.70 or higher and be in good academic standing. Participants MUST have proof of health insurance coverage prior to acceptance to the program. When submitting an application please check off one of the following funding sources: NIH or SURE. College seniors who will have graduated by the time the program starts in June are not eligible for the program.  

Criteria

  1. To be eligible for NIH funding at least ONE of the following criteria must apply:
    • Be from an economically disadvantaged background, as defined by the NIH
    • Be a first generation college student
    • Presently receiving accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act
  2. If you do not meet any of the above criteria select SURE funding.

Application Instructions

Complete the online application and attach/upload the following:

  • A current resume
  • Copy of a current transcript
  • Copy of previous undergraduate institution transcripts
  • A personal statement (1-2 pages) describing your reasons for participating in this program, any challenges that you have overcome during your academic journey, and the importance of equity and inclusion in the biomedical sciences.
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation (uploaded by recommenders)

The application submission deadline is March 1, 2024
