Hyperglycemia (High Blood Sugar)

Hyperglycemia refers to a blood sugar level above the target range. It's expected that some blood sugar levels will be above or below target at times, but the goal is for at least 75% of blood sugar tests to be within the target range.

The following video explains what causes high blood sugar, symptoms to be aware of, and how to treat it. It also discusses a dangerous condition called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), which can occur if high blood sugars are not corrected.
