Lisa M. Larson is the interim vice chancellor for communications and chief communications officer at UMass Chan Medical School. Larson leads integrated communications, marketing, media relations and brand strategy in support of the institution’s mission, helping shape its storytelling, strengthen its brand identity and expand its national visibility. She oversees a talented team of writers, editors, media relations professionals, multimedia producers and designers who support and promote the Medical School’s advances in medical education, biomedical research, innovative healthcare delivery and public service through strategic multimedia storytelling, targeted media outreach, social media and brand management.

A Massachusetts native and former journalist, Larson spent 20 years managing newsrooms from Central Massachusetts to Boston before joining the Medical School’s Office of Communications in 2011. She is a graduate of Fitchburg State University, the mother of two daughters and an active Girl Scout leader.
