Lisa Colombo, DNP, MHA, RN

Lisa M. Colombo has been the chief executive of ForHealth Consulting at UMass Chan Medical School since 2018. She was previously senior vice president and chief nursing officer at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Colombo has also held additional executive roles within UMass Memorial Health Care system.

She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and was recently appointed to the Board of Trustees at UMass Memorial Health, where she serves on the Patient Care Assessment Committee.

Colombo has dedicated her tenure to partnering with purposeful organizations to improve the health care experience for all and make it more equitable, effective and accessible. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her clinical expertise was critical to launching a large-scale, community collaboration in Central Massachusetts that administered almost 100,000 vaccines. In recognition, Colombo was awarded an honorary Doctor of Nursing Science degree from Worcester State University in 2020 and named one of Worcester Business Journal’s Outstanding Women in Business in 2021.

Colombo’s extensive academic health care management experience comes from a variety of settings, including Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, Milton Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, New England Baptist Hospital, and Evocare/American HomePatient. She holds a faculty appointment at in the Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing at UMass Chan and has taught doctoral level courses in quality, patient safety and outcomes measurement and management.

An ambitious home cook, Colombo enjoys spending her free time in the kitchen creating epicurean experiences for family and friends. She is also a cycling enthusiast and has ridden many long distance rides for charity, supporting causes that have personal meaning.

Colombo earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing at Worcester State University, where she currently serves as vice chair on the Board of Trustees, in addition to serving on the planning and development and finance and facilities committees. She earned a Master’s of Health Administration at Clark University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions.
