Kate Fitzgerald Appointed to Executive Vice Chancellor for Research and Chief Research Officer 

The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Fitzgerald, PhD, the Worcester Foundation for Biomedical Research Chair III, professor and executive vice chair of medicine, and chief of the Division of Innate Immunity, as executive vice chancellor for research and chief research officer of UMass Chan. 

A world-renowned immunologist and researcher, Dr. Fitzgerald joined UMass Chan in 2001. Her research examines the innate immune system, focusing on the molecular mechanisms that drive inflammatory responses to infection and their roles in infectious, inflammatory, and autoimmune diseases.
