Neal Silverman, Lee Quinton, and David Hatem Recognized at Educational Recognition Awards and Last Lecture
On Thursday, April 30, 2026, UMass Chan Medical School held its Educational Recognition Awards Ceremony. This event recognizes and celebrates the achievements of faculty of the Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing, Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and T.H. Chan School of Medicine. Among the winners of the 2026 Educational Recognition Awards were Neal Silverman, PhD, professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology, Lee Quinton, PhD, professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology, and David Hatem, MD, professor emeritus, in the Division of General Internal Medicine.
Dr. Silverman was awarded the Dean’s Award by the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences; Dr. Quinton was awarded a Faculty Award by the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and Dr. Hatem was awarded the Retired Faculty Teaching Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Medical Education by the T.H Chan School of Medicine.
Additionally, Howard Sachs, MD, associate professor of medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine, who received the 2025 Chancellor’s Medal for Distinguished Teaching and the Manning Prize for Excellence in Teaching, delivered the Last Lecture.
