Dr. Tran and Elisa Taylor

Khanh-Van Tran and Elisa Taylor Present at the American Society for Preventive Cardiology Meeting

Khanh-Van Tran, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, and Elisa Taylor, MS3, recently presented work from their Pathway Project at the American Society for Preventive Cardiology meeting, Congress on CVD Prevention, in early August. Their work focuses on statin adherence following acute coronary syndrome.

Their study found that while nearly all patients were initiated on statins during hospitalization, adherence declined to 87% at 6 months and 81% at 12 months post-discharge. Traditional demographic and clinical factors, such as age, race, ethnicity, and BMI, were not associated with adherence, suggesting that system-level and behavioral interventions are needed to improve long-term use.
