William Whalen and Colleagues Recognized for Outstanding Patient Care 

William Whalen, MD, MS, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine, and his colleagues in the Pulmonary Clinic and Vascular Lab recently went above and beyond to care for a patient who presented with shortness of breath and leg swelling. Dr. Whalen and his team reached out to the vascular lab, which responded immediately and was able to accommodate the patient for urgent imaging-with no hesitation despite a very busy schedule. This evaluation revealed an extensive DVT, allowing the patient to begin anticoagulation without delay.
