Why UMass FHCW:  As I explored residency programs, I knew I wanted to train in a place that not only valued diversity but was also deeply committed to serving underserved communities, particularly immigrant populations. I was inspired by the SOAR committee and the program’s intentional efforts to address structural inequities in healthcare. The more I learned, the more I realized that my values and aspirations closely aligned with those of the program. During my Second Look, that connection became even stronger. From the moment I arrived at FHCW, I felt an immediate sense of belonging that I had not experienced elsewhere. The supportive, collaborative culture among residents, faculty, and staff was evident in every interaction. By the end of the day, I knew that UMass was the perfect place to continue my training and growth as a family physician.
