We have an active ACGME-accredited Osteopathic Recognition program within our residency. DO residents have osteopathic focused didactics every 4 weeks where they review and practice hands-on assessment and approaches to further their osteopathic skill set (OMT) and develop their osteopathic principles and practice (OPP). Didactics are both in the classroom and on the inpatient floor where we treat newborn, obstetric and adult patients.  Osteopathic Manipulation is used regularly in the clinic with direct supervision from osteopathic core faculty.  Residents are trained to actively apply osteopathic principles to patient care and appropriately utilize OMT throughout their three years of residency.

Our goal is to help residents develop their osteopathic skills and be comfortable and proficient addressing all areas of family medicine. We offer an osteopathic elective allowing for robust development of skills and support residents attending outside osteopathic courses for further development of their skills.  We prepare residents to be able to sit for the early entry initial board certification exam during their third year of training. We are proud to say that our residents graduate with the competency to continue to implement OMT in their own practices after graduation. Over the past 5 years, we have had a significant number of our graduating DO residents continue to use OMT in their own professional practice.
