Transfusion Medicine Clinical Care
The clinical arm of our program consists of a program in therapeutic apheresis, an outpatient clinic that focuses on iron loading states, erythrocytosis and apheresis for therapy of disease or transplantation, and a bedside clinical consulting service. Clinical laboratory services include investigation of reports of transfusion reactions, work-up of abnormal findings on pre-transfusion testing, and consultation services regarding the use of blood products in hospitalized patients. In addition, we provide laboratory services for the processing, cryopreservation and ultimate infusion of hemopoietic progenitor (stem) cells for transplantation.
