Students for a National Health Program
Oh SNahP!
SNaHP is the student branch of Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) which is dedicated to promoting the cause of Universal Health Care in the United States. The students in SNaHP believe that health care is a human right and that all people, regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status, etc. deserve to be treated fairly and with dignity. We believe that the best way to achieve justice our broken health care system is to create a Single Payer Health Care system in which care is available to all.
“Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in healthcare is the most shocking and inhumane”
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
March 25th, 1966
Our activities include:
- Guest Speakers such as PNHP co-found Dr. David Himmelstein and Dr. Gordy Schiff, Associate Director of the Center for Patient Safety Research and Practice at BWH
- Annual Conferences (http://www.pnhp.org/student-summit)
- Movie Nights
- Advocacy Training
Our group consists of students from all 3 schools here at UMass and we welcome you to join us. If you believe that health care is a human right, come check out SNaHP!
