Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - SNAP

Do you know a student who receives MASSGrant or are eligible for work-study? Do they live off-campus with roommates but buy and prepare your own food? They may be eligible for food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program.

Learn how low-income college students can qualify for SNAP in Massachusetts and review SNAP rules and rights for college students.

For Western MA: The Food Bank of Western MA is available year-round to assist you in signing up for SNAP benefits. Call them at 413-992-6204, or visit Getting Food Stamps for information and an application.

Woman, Infants, and Children Nutrition Program - WIC

WIC is a nutrition that provides healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and other services, free of charge, to Massachusetts families who qualify. WIC's goal is to help keep pregnant and breastfeeding women and kids under 5 healthy!  But, WIC is for all kinds of families: married and single parents, working or not working.  If you are a father, mother, grandparent, foster parent or other legal guardian of a child under 5, you can apply for WIC for your child.
