Jan Cerny, MD, PhDJan Cerny Testifies at Massachusetts State House in Support of Funding Medical Research 

Jan Cerny, MD, PhD, associate professor of medicine in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, and Director of the Leukemia Program and Co-Director of the Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant Program, testified at the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies' Hearing on the Governor's DRIVE initiative in support of funding medical research. Specifically, Dr. Cerny highlighted the importance of CAR T-cell therapy and its life-changing impact on patients.  

“Cellular immunotherapy represents the most transformative advance in the fight against cancer of our lifetime,” said Dr. Cerny. “It gives the ability to ‘program’ the human immune system to recognize and kill tumor cells and is the result of more than four decades of foundational research — a breakthrough that began in academic medical centers before moving to biotech, then pharma, and finally reaching patients.”
