How to Check and Update Symantec Antivirus - For Windows
To start, you will need to locate your Symantec icon. Instructions are below. If you cannot locate your Symantec icon, please contact the Help Desk for service.
Double-click the Symantec icon in the lower right corner of your screen. You may need to click the little arrow button (see below) to see the icon.
Some computers will prompt you to allow the program to open. Click “Yes” if this appears.
Look in the section titled “Virus and Spyware Protection” to see if your “Definitions” date is in the last couple days. If not, select “LiveUpdate…” to update the definitions manually.
How to Check and Update Symantec Antivirus - For MAC

For Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.x
version 12.x will have this icon:
Click on the Symantec logo on the top menu bar.
Select “Symantec Endpoint Protection”
Then choose “Open Symantec Endpoint Protection”
Make sure the date shown after “Last updated” is within the past couple of days. Otherwise, click on “Live Update Now”
For Symantec Endpoint Protection 10.x and 11.x
version 10.x or 11.x will have this icon:
Click on the Symantec logo on the top menu bar.
Select “Live Update” then choose “Open Live Update”
Make sure the “Date of Last update” is within the past couple of days. Otherwise, click on “Update Everything Now”
