Job & Education Placement
The Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 requires institutions to make available to current and prospective students information on job placement and graduate and professional education placement of graduates. This information is gathered from the results of the Recent Graduates Survey, which, in accordance with the reporting conventions of various higher education survey groups (e.g., U.S. News & World Report, Peterson's), is administered six months after graduation for undergraduate degree earners and three months after graduation for graduate degree earners. Because UMass Dartmouth has three degree award periods during the course of an academic year (September, January, and May), the Recent Graduates Survey is administered in stages each academic year to accommodate each of these degree award periods*.

Information on job placement and graduate and professional education placement of graduates can also be found in the results of the Cap and Gown Survey (CGS) and the Five-Year Out Alumni Survey. However, because the CGS only asks students about their planned activities following graduation and the Five-Year Out Alumni Survey is administered several years after graduation, job placement and education placement of graduated students is officially reported from the results of the Recent Graduates Survey.
Currently, there are no guidelines that are commonly followed by all institutions in reporting job and educational placement for graduates. Therefore, be advised that the placement rates and data reported by UMass Dartmouth will likely not be comparable to those reported by other institutions.
Summary data on the most recent undergraduate and graduate classes can be found below. Detailed data is available from the results of the Recent Graduates Survey. (Note: UMass School of Law – Dartmouth must follow specific standards for collecting data on graduates’ outcomes; these data are collected by the Law Career Services Office and can be found via the UMass Law Profile page).
*This data collection schedule was implemented in academic year (AY) 2012-2013. Data for periods prior to AY 2012-2013 do not follow this collection procedure.
