Message from the Associate Dean of Admissions
A Message from the Associate Dean of Admissions
First of all, I hope you are doing well.
Everything changed one year ago. Each of us has been challenged in some way: in how we care for patients, how we teach and learn, how we come together as a community and how we cope with isolation, illness and loss.
During this year, the UMass Chan Medical School is as active and engaged in our communities as ever. Graduation for the Class of 2020 was in March, two months ahead of schedule, so these new doctors could join the health care work force and care for patients with COVID. UMass Chan Medical School students worked at the Worcester field hospital during the Spring 2020 and Winter 2021 COVID surges. They have been instrumental in keeping the Worcester Free Clinics operational. They have joined the Vaccine Team to immunize the people of Central Massachusetts, particularly those who are most vulnerable to severe disease.
I am sorry that I won’t get to meet you in person at Second Look Day. But I can promise the SLD Committee and the Admissions Office has worked very hard to find ways to share the same information virtually that you would have received on campus.
How can you continue to learn about the T.H. Chan School of Medicine?
- Join in on our full day of virtual Second Look programming on Friday, March 26th
- Follow the Class of 2025 Facebook page
- Email your questions about next steps and we will direct you to the correct resources. Email either admissions@umassmed.edu or umassmedsld@gmail.com.
I look forward to seeing you on March 26th.
Stay well and healthy. Take care of yourself and others.
Best wishes,
Mariann M. Manno, MD, EdM, FAAP
