The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner track (AGACNP) is designed to prepare graduates in advanced nursing practice. This program equips future AGACNPs with the knowledge and skills needed for successful careers caring for acute, acute on chronic, and critically ill adult patients. Graduates are prepared as nurse practitioners who will be leaders in clinical practice, nursing education, health policy and healthcare delivery systems.
Our program utilizes innovative methods for education including simulation, standardized patient experiences and case-based learning to develop the critical thinking and skills needed to practice as an AGACNP. Expert educators and clinicians are vital participants in delivery of our didactic sessions, as clinical faculty, and as clinical preceptors, which elevates the experience for our students.
You can become a AGACNP through our following programs:
- Graduate Entry Pathway to DNP - For non-nurses with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a non-nursing field
- Bachelor's of Science Degree (BSN) to DNP
- Pre-Graduate Option (PGO) to DNP - The PGO to DNP is a entry pathway for registered nurses with a Bachelor's degree in a non-nursing field. The PGO to DNP curriculum will remain the same, with two additional courses taken in the summer prior to fall matriculation
- Post Graduate Certificate - For practicing NPs ready to refocus their specialization into acute and critical care
