Meet Our 2015-16 Fellow
Emily Colgate is a graduate of University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington Vermont. She completed her residency at Cottage Hospital, a community hospital located in her hometown Santa Barbara, California. During medical school Emily became interested in HIV after doing a rotation at Mulago Hospital in Kampala Uganda, a regional center for HIV/AIDS patients. Her interest continued to develop in residency while working in a community health center based HIV clinic.
With her fellowship training she is excited to hone her general primary care skills as well as gain expertise in both viral hepatitis and HIV care. She plans to work at a community health center after her fellowship, where she hopes to continue to advocate and care for HIV and hepatitis C patients in the primary care setting. In her free time, Emily enjoys being outside as much as possible, and loves to hike, travel, and snowboard.
