MD/PhD Promissory Note and Special Program Fee Details
Entering MD/PhD students are required to sign a promissory note and agree to pay a Special Program Fee, in which payment is deferred as long as you remain enrolled in the combined degree program. Upon completion of the combined degree program, the repayment obligation shall be forgiven in full. The Note is enforced if you are to drop out of the combined degree program, however. Details regarding what the Trustees of the School have approved for the Special Program Fee for the 2023/2024 school year will provided below once available. Amounts listed below are for the 2020/2021 academic year and for reference only:
- Massachusetts residents - $18,285 per term (2 terms/year)
- Non-Massachusetts residents - $31,444.50 per term (2 terms/year)
If you were to drop from the combine program before completing the requirements for the PhD, you could continue with the medical curriculum. You would be charged the medical school tuition at the rate of the residency denoted in your acceptance letter and, of course, without deferral and a stipend.
