ALS Research focus

Researchers at UMass Chan Medical School are making groundbreaking discoveries in both basic science and possible therapeutics for ALS.

Recent achievements include:

  •  identifying genes and mutations associated with familial forms of the disease
  •  successfully silencing one of those genes
  •  elucidating factors involved in sporadic ALS
  •  identifying biochemical and biophysical aspects of the disease
  •  participation in early phase clinical trials

In addition to extensive NIH funding, exclusive support for the ALS research underway at UMass Chan Medical School is provided by:

  • Angel Fund
  • ALS Cellucci Fund
  • Jake Kennedy ALS Fund.
