Immunology Core

With recent advances in the Gene Therapy field, Adeno-associated virus (AAV) viral vectors are becoming more widely used to deliver therapeutic treatments for a vast array of diseases. While this approach shows great promise it also harbors various obstacles to ensure successful delivery.

Our Mission: Since the immune response to the capsid and transgene plays an important role clinically in the success of Gene Therapy, our lab performs several assays to detect these immune responses. We routinely perform neutralizing antibody assays as well as anti-capsid IgG ELISAs to identify humoral immune responses. To determine if there are cellular immune responses to the capsid or transgene via cytotoxic T cells our lab performs ELISpots.
