What is HYPE?
Helping Youth on the Path to Employment (HYPE) provides flexible, solution-focused, career-oriented services based on your needs and preferences. This includes but is not limited to:
- Focus on Young Adults between the ages of 18-30 with serious mental health conditions
- Help Young Adults understand their school, career, and work interests
- Work directly with Young Adults to plan for their career aspirations using SMART goals
- Focus on higher education as means to achieve their goals
- Teach Young Adults the necessary tools/ skills to be successful after high school
The HYPE Course is an adaptation of HYPE, the Helping Youth on the Path to Employment model. The new Virtual HYPE course offering is aimed at meeting the career preparation needs of young adults with mental health conditions and may be offered virtually or in person.
There are 3 HYPE Courses: Career Decisions, Work Preparation, and School Preparation. The topics covered by the courses are listed below:

What does the training entail?
The HYPE Courses are designed to
- Engage Young Adults interested in preparing for Careers, Work and School
- Last for 6-7 weeks, up to 2 hours per week
- Be co-facilitated with Young Adult staff to further engage young adults participating
- Offer individual meetings to tailor content to the needs of individual young adult
Organizations who serve Young Adults between the ages of 18-30 with serious mental health conditions are eligible to receive training by HYPE experts in supporting career aspirations and preparation for work and school.
HYPE Course training allows providers at your organization to become seasoned educational group facilitators in the domain of career development. All HYPE Courses come with a curriculum, facilitator’s guides, slides, and materials.
The HYPE Course Facilitator Training offers training, coaching, and technical assistance. Eligible organizations serve young adults with mental health conditions, have a supervisor onsite who is willing to be trained and who will support and encourage staff in their training and agree to release providers (including YA providers) for training for up to 4 hours per week. - Instructional components are at your own pace, online, and interactive
- Includes live and virtual discussion and practice components
Tailored to your interest
Each organization can select the courses they are most interested in/ are most needed.
Supported
Trainees learn the skills of facilitating the HYPE Courses through
- Virtual, interactive training in essential competencies and strategies
- Live, Virtual Coaching sessions
- Participatory observation of a course being taught
- Practice teaching HYPE courses with young adults with support from the HYPE team
