Using immunodeficient mouse models and human cells to recreate and study type 1 diabetes

Michael Brehm, PhD, and colleagues are working to bring precision medicine to patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D), developing a model system that allows scientists to better understand the autoimmune disease.  Immunodeficient humanized mice allow Brehm's lab to reconstruct human T1D by using cells derived from T1D patients.
