NeuroNexus Institute Outreach

An important function of the NeuroNexus Institute is to increase awareness of neuroscience activities on campus.  These activities are generally supported by academic departments and other partners, but with cross-promotion by the NeuroNexus Institute.

Neuroscience of Disease Forum

Monthly, Monday late afternoon. Location varies.

Western Massachusetts Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience

The NNI partnered with the Institute for Advanced Life Sciences (IALS) at UMass-Amherst to provide financial support for trainee poster awards at the May 2018 Poster session held in conjunction with the first UMass (Amherst) Neurosciences Event.  The Department of Neurobiology and IALS similarly supported trainee poster awards at the March 2017 Chapter meeting.

Central Massachusetts Brain Bee

The Department of Psychiatry has organized and supported all 12 previous Bees, held in February at the Medical School. The Bee is a competition among high school students, testing their knowledge of Brain Facts https://www.brainfacts.org/the-brain-facts-book.

The NNI is assisting this year. Several GSBS graduate students plan to provide tutoring sessions to interested students.
