Tuition programs

Through our comprehensive tuition programs, we make it easier for you and your family to pursue higher education, advance your skills, and open new doors.

Pension and retirement programs


As a UMass Chan employee, you are required to participate in one of the mandatory retirement options – the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System (MSERS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP), if eligible. Contributions to these plans are in place of Social Security.


You also have the option of two voluntary retirement plans – the University 403(b) Plan and the 457(b) Plan/MA SMART Plan.
