Student Health Fee – Explanation of Services Covered by Fee

All matriculated students are charged an annual Health/ Counseling Fee. The fee is split between Student Health and Student Counseling Services.

The Student Health portion of the Health Fee covers the services provided by Student Health 

• Review and approval of pre-matriculation documents to begin school.
• Tracking of health clearance requirements throughout education at UMass Chan (notifications to students for updated vaccines, titers needed to maintain health clearance for your program and for MA Department of Public Health.
• Annual Quantiferon Gold test requirement. Orders placed at UMass Memorial lab. SHS provides notification /coordination options of follow-up necessary.

IMPORTANT : (Please check with your health insurance regarding coverage of this test.) If you decide to have your annual Quantiferon gold through a provider outside of UMass Memorial you are responsible for any bills, copays or deductibles related to your testing. In addition, away rotations may require repeat Quantiferon gold or other titers to meet their institution’s requirements. The Student Health fee does not cover away rotation site requirements if UMass Chan requirements have been met.

• Review and completion of rotation forms and any notification of any additional tests, titers or vaccines required.
• Clinical guidance for public health outbreaks or return to class for infectious disease cases.
• General guidance and provide website information about community services for healthcare options in the area.
• Ability for Student Health admin to arrange new patient appointments for students who choose to establish in the FCM
• Guidance for BBP follow-up. Provide options and can assist to book f/u visit for students seen at FCM office.
• Schedule provider evaluations for mask recommendations / symptoms related to anatomy chemical sensitivities /symptoms.
