HEALTH INSURANCE
INSURANCE
- MA law requires all students to carry health insurance.
- The University offers one health insurance Plan with BC/BS.
- You have the option to enroll in a plan through UMASS or purchase insurance with a company of your choice.
- Students may also purchase dependent coverage (spouse, children) for an additional cost after the completion of their enrollment in the Student BC/BC health insurance plan.
- Students may also enroll in an optional dental insurance plan with Delta Dental for an additional cost.
The Bursar’s Office is responsible for assisting students with health/dental insurance enrollment. Please contact the Bursar’s Office at (508) 856-6641 with any questions related to enrollment in the student BC/BS plan offered.
Students paying a student health fee have access to be seen within the Family Medicine Practice based on the “Healthcare Options” information that can be found on the SHS website. www.umassmed.edu/studenthealth
The Family Medicine Practice accepts the following insurances:

Harvard Pilgrim
PLEASE NOTE: If you choose a health plan that the Family Medicine Practice (FCM) does not accept, you will not be able to be seen in FCM for care. You will need to utilize an urgent care and/or establish with a provider that your insurance accepts.

BILLING
If you have received a bill for services you received, at the Family Medicine Office, and believe there may be an error, please contact Nancy Whalen (Billing Coordinator) at (774) 443-2810 or email her at Nancy.Whalen@umassmemorial.org. Please save your bill as she may request it for her review.
If you have received a bill for services you received at the Family Medicine/Student Health Office, and believe there may be an error, please scan a copy of the bill to the SHS email for review. Studenthealth@umassmemorial.org
