Seasonal Flu Vaccine 2025- 2026

To: All Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing Students

This year’s 2025-2026 flu season is fast approaching. The seasonal flu vaccine is strongly recommended for both clinical and non-clinical GSN students. Listed below are several options to receive a seasonal flu vaccine:

• Contact your primary care provider’s office or receive at your next visit.
• Visit a pharmacy in the area- There are multiple pharmacies in Worcester and Shrewsbury (within a few miles from campus)
• Visit any grocery store with a pharmacy that offers flu vaccine.
• Through your employer, if offered

Remember to bring your insurance card. Most insurances cover the flu vaccine.

GSN students should understand the flu policies of their clinical sites and plan accordingly with their program coordinator. GSN cannot guarantee clinical placement if the student does not meet the health clearance requirements of the clinical site.

Students receiving the flu vaccine in Massachusetts no longer need to provide a copy of their flu vaccine to Student Health. Student Health can obtain documentation through the Massachusetts Immunization Information System (MIIS). If you receive a flu vaccine outside of Massachusetts or have opted out of MIIS, please scan a copy of your documentation to the Student Health e-mail studenthealth@umassmemorial.org.  

GSN students do not need to provide medical or religious exemptions for flu vaccine to Student Health.
